Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Is this only for women?

A. The Women’s Empowerment Retreat is an organized retreat event, however we offer private retreats and team building experiences where all are welcome.

Q. Do I need to know anything about horses?

A. Not at all.   In retreats, our horses are additional instructors. They are here to teach you and help you see the energy you put out in the world.  Horses are very intuitive beings and respond directly to the energy the receive.  Your work with the horses will be guided and supported by experienced handlers.  Your experience with the horses will be profound.

Q. Is firewalking dangerous?

A.        The firewalk is a right of passage and a choice you may freely accept or refuse. There is absolutely NO pressure to walk.   It is facilitated and supervised by certified instructors with safety our foremost concern.  There is the chance for a blister or two, but most often the only result of a firewalk is the incredible feeling of empowerment and belief in oneself.

Q. Can we stay longer since we are having so much fun?

A.        Absolutely! Providing we have rooms available, you are welcome to extend your            stay at our regular season rates.  Enjoy some free time or go explore the great            attractions of Calaveras county, including cave adventures, antiquing, gold panning            and more.  You can even sign up for a couple riding lessons!

Q. I have a small medical/dental office, what type of team building options do I have?

A. We have the perfect place for a day long or weeklong team building experience for you and your staff.  Put your personal spin to it with help from our experienced instructors.  Choose adventure or enlightenment or something in between.

Q. Are there showers and restrooms?

A. Yes, campground style.  Shower does have hot and cold water.  We prefer you bring organic soaps and shampoos to be kind to the land.    Our privies (outhouses) are clean and well-maintained.

Q. What’s the weather like?

A. The California Sierra foothills are known for varied weather.  The ranch is located above the fog line and below the snow.  In Spring and Fall the days are comfortably warm, and the evenings can be quite cool.  Both warm and cool clothes are recommended.  Summers average in the high 80s, low 90s with occasional spikes.  Sunscreen and hats are in order.
